History

Date of Birth: October 29th, 1982
Home: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Honshu, Japan
Family: Monobe Nampo and Aeko (parents), Seiji (older brother); Setsuko (daughter)
First Change: Personal Tragedy (she was born into a wealthy family that knew of its Hakken heritage but had produced only Kinfolk for generations; Takara had no mystic marks either, so assumed she too was Kin only; she fumbled through school and university, but the stress of social life and tests finally triggered her First Change; luckily, no one was around to see it, because when she stared into the mirror and saw her Crinos shape, even the new Garou wasn't frightened), 1999
Mentor: Aya Teruyasu
The Test: Trial by Combat (Takara never wanted to become Garou, she was content bumbling through life with half a passing interest in her studies and career, finding solace only ever in American jazz and swing music, and now she not only had to worry about being a monster, she had duties; she was assigned to her Hakken sensei at the Court of the Forgotten Blade, who sternly trained the reluctant and spoiled child, and then sent her on a Rite of Passage that tested her courage and resolve, as it pitted her and the pack she supported against a Kumo lair, rife with Yomi spirit allies, a fight she survived but was horrified by)
Comrades: Hansha no Taigetsu, Masaya Akitarou, Masaya Chino, Ikarike Sen, Hata Black-Thunder-Teeth, Washirou Shintaro, Masaya Kiwa, Kishiro Mikiko, Ravi Dattavalaram, Xiaomao, Kitaro Rintaro, Jilal Dattavalaram, Shao Fen-Ji
Key Event #1: Personal Tragedy (she was as irritated with the Hakken as they were with her, so they urged her to take up the Great Burden, become hengeyokai, and join a distant Beast-Court far from her strict Hakken relatives)
Key Event #2: Awe & Wonder (with her family trust fund money on hand, she moved abroad to the US where a Beast-Court colonized in Kansas City, a home of jazz music; despite the wiser guidance of the hengeyokai, she still felt reluctant among them, and focused much of her time on opening a jazz-and-swing nightclub in Little Asia called the "Electrophonic Hepcat Riffhouse" [colloquially acronymed as the "EPHER" or "Riffhouse" or even just "the Riff"]; she remained in a supporter role for much of her time here, gaining Rank only over years of steady fidelity)
Key Event #3: Personal Tragedy (a number of local gaki-backed yakuza frequented her now-very locally famous place, which drew "gang violence" in the form of Kin-jin attacking the place: Giovanni-ghouled mobsters performed a drive-by on the place, killing several of her patrons before she could intervene)
Key Event #4: War (that changed her forever: she kept the Riff closed down "for repairs" while she went on the warpath, forming a wave sentai and assaulting the Giovanni mobsters in nearby Little Italy, wreaking havoc and leaving a lot of ghouls and mortals dead in their wake, like a twisted gangster movie—one could almost hear "Sing, Sing, Sing" play-over a scene of pure carnage)
Transition: Shift in Purpose (combining this stepping-up to the War on the Wyrm with her having chosen a Kinfolk mate and bearing a daughter in '05, named Setsuko, general service to the court, and her connection to the urban human scene, she became a real fixture not just in the Beast-Court but all of Little Asia, and even the Kuei-jin saluted her)

Past Life

Magnitude: Takara can recall ancestral memories back to about the beginning of the 19th-century
Details: She recalls an ancestor of a quiet and dutiful Trueborn samurai warrior-woman, whom she taps for deep-passioned inspiration in anything she does

Fetishes

Truth's Earring
Appearance: A gold ball earring (that she has a non-fetish match for the other ear)
Origin: Gift
Effects: Enables her to detect lies when they're told (per the Gift, Truth of Gaia)
Activation: She must reach up to her ear and gently turn the earring in her lobe

Significant Other

Name: Washirou Shintaro, 2004
Nature: Romantic

Shintaro

Weakness
Belligerent Bad Girl

She's Hakken but often behaves like a gaijin Glass Walker, with the mouth she runs to anyone (even the gai'nan). It gets her in trouble. It also attracts allies she doesn't always appreciate having around.

Likelihood of Corruption

Low.

Though she's "in it", in urban human life, she's close enough to the Beast-Court to keep her soul pure of too many Weaver or Wyrm influences. Besides, her love of music is hardly Weaver or Wyrm, it's pure Wyld!
